America was getting rather bored of the same sights. He had come along not only to protect Japan, but also to throw some excitement into his otherwise mundane day. Not that he wanted to face a whole horde of zombies, but a couple here and there most certainly wouldn't hurt anybody. Still, he supposed he was actually a tad bit thankful that nothing was happening. Though adventure was always fun, he wasn't willing to take any risks out in this cold of weather.
When the trees began to lessen and the capital came into view, America's eyes shone with relief (though he kept any sighs to himself, seeing as how Japan was making a point to be extra quiet). when the Asian nation signaled for him to come closer, America did so quickly and quietly (or as quietly as he could), glancing around just in case a zombie decided to pop up right at that moment. It wouldn't be the first time that America had been caught off guard.
"So, we got a plan of action?" he whispered, smiling brightly over at Japan to show that he was prepared for anything. Sure, the forest was quite threatening at night, and, sure, all of the shadows reminded America of the undead closing in, but he was able to take it all. If anything, he was curious to see what Japan had planned next (because surely he must have a plan- America had known Japan for many, many years, and that guy usually had a plan), and he was excited to find something that could possibly be beneficial to their overall mission here in North America.
If Japan found what he needed, that would be great, even better than America's weapons. They could get a supply of weapons from Europe every so often, and even if it would be nice to have an even greater supply, America knew they would live without any guns or ammunition that he might find at the capital. Japan's medical reports, on the other hand, could be very important to their survival, and America knew that he would have to keep a very close eye out for that.
Still, he hoped they would find a good amount of both the reports and weapons.

((It's okay...this was ages ago, and it's my fault it's been running so slowly x.x I'll try to keep up with it though D: Pfft, I would do the same with those posts, hence the timeskip to save both of our brains ^^))
Japan waited as America moved closer, thankful that America was on high alert. The blond's shoulders were tense, and his hands were clearly ready to grab one of his guns should the zombies appear nearby. Not for the first time that night was Japan grateful for America's presence with him. He easily could have completed the mission on his own, but with America along he could focus more on finding what he needed. That was not to say he would be relying solely on America to protect them. He was fully capable of protecting himself, though he knew America knew this too. The few words they had exchanged after leaving the rooftop had ceased to be about protection and friendship, and had become only the necessities for the focus of their mission. Japan could thank America later for his presence, and America could resume scolding him then too, if he still felt the need to do so.
The corners of Japan's mouth twitched slightly in a smile, as he could practically feel America's grin in the darkness. America's confidence in him felt both reassuring and weighted, though the latter was of his own making. He suddenly felt his age, the thousands of years he held over America's few hundred pressing down on him like the darkness around the two. He was too old, and in contrast, America was too young. Yet here they were, standing in the snow with the capital only a few minutes' walk away, the too old and too young nation each preparing to complete a mission together that apart might have been just a little too large. Japan pushed the thought aside, returning his attentions to the present. They were obviously not alone, and they could certainly handle any obstacle in their path.
"Hai, I have a plan." His voice was barely a whisper, and might have been lost in the biting wind had they not been leaning so close together. Even still, his breath rose in small puffs as he spoke. "The best places to find records would either be the capital building, or main government building, or a hospital. Before we left the warehouse and during my preparations for this trip, I printed a map of our potential destinations." Here, he removed from his pocket a piece of paper, unfolding it and gripping it tightly so it would not fly away into the night. The map looked hand drawn, with certain buildings labeled 'Hospital' or 'Military' or 'Government Office'. Over these, red circles had been drawn over the largest. "The circles indicate either the largest potential source of information, or a building that was reported to be used up until the epidemic."
He paused there, eyes scanning the map and then America's face, as if trying to read his reaction. "I have also marked off buildings reported to be testing military weapons, or that housed a few military weapons. There are not nearly as many as in your home that are as well known, but we can also find out more in the government-type buildings, should we wish to also search for useful weaponry." Though he had not planned to search for weapons himself, Japan knew that America would appreciate having a little more firepower on his side. In truth, he would also have felt better with more adequate weaponry and resources, but he knew they were living in the most ideal conditions they could, considering the circumstances.
"Before we begin, we will study the map. We will begin at the most likely source, and work our way to the least. However, if there are far too many of the undead at our destination, we will skip it. There is no point in taking unnecessary risks, since we have yet to find a definite cure. If we find the undead have begun to sense our presence in the city, we will also leave, whether we have gathered anything or not. Hopefully we will have managed to pick up some information from at least one of our target locations." He held out the map for America to study, tilting his head in a silent invitation for any questions the blond might have about their objective.

[[If I actually kept up, it might go quicker. X'D I'm sorry- my excuse is that I was busy with final projects and exams, but I've had two or three free days, so that's no excuse.]]
America listened to the entirety of Japan's plan, nodding every so often and keeping his eyes fixed on the map, studying it thoroughly. If he could memorize the map (or, rather, the important features of the map), they would be far more prepared for anything that happened. Besides that, America wanted to know where exactly they would be starting off first. He figured it would be one of the government buildings, considering that was Japan's original idea in the first place, and he didn't mind that, so long as they really did stop by one of the buildings with military weapons. Japan could get what he wanted to get, and America could get what he wanted to get. If not for the ever-looming threat of zombies, the plan should go more than a little smoothly.
He suddenly realized that, if they wanted to pass quietly through the buildings, using knives would be a better option (silencers, too, but if they were really looking for stealth, knives were the way to go). Military buildings were sure to have knives, and America once again felt an internal sense of gratitude to Japan for marking off those military buildings. Even if they didn't have guns, even if America was unable to carry all those guns, knives would be easily accessible. Or so he hoped, anyway.
He glanced up at Japan and noticed that his friend was waiting to answer any questions he might have before heading out. Luckily, America had a whole plethora of them - he figured, as it was, he would only ask the one he deemed most important. "We gonna start at the capital, though, right?" His voice was but a hush whisper, eyes constantly scanning the area for any sign of the undead creatures. It wouldn't do him good to get caught just because he spoke too loudly.
Which led to another question on his mind; what happens if we're bitten? Of course, he knew the answer, so he didn't dare waste anymore of their time to ask such a question.

((Nonsense...I'm super slow with my replies *sends love* D: It's okay though...I can totally understand being busy!))
Japan watched as America scanned the map, noting the lines of concentration that creased his forehead. Times like this were constant reminders of how intelligent America could be when he set his mind to it. It was far too easy for the elder nations, like himself, to take America's rather odd suggestions and loud nature as naivete. He resisted the urge to shake his head, letting a small smile quirk the corners of his mouth. He knew America well enough by now to know that the other nation often overcame such opinions quite well. He let his gaze drift down to the map, studying it quietly and waiting for America to finish.
Once he was certain the blond had gathered the information, he refolded the map and pocketed it. They would be able to look at it later if they needed to, but it was far better to memorize their destinations. He checked his weapons one last time, adjusting the straps on a few of his throwing knives and examining the cord holding his katana. Once he was satisfied, he returned his attention to America. He noted that the blond carried far more guns than knives, which in normal circumstances would have been favorable. However, given their stealth mission, they would need to move with as little noise as possible. He considered stopping at an abandoned military base first, but immediately decided against it. Going to one just to pick up knives would lessen their chances to retrieve scientific documents.
"Hai, America-kun. We will be starting at the large capital building. I am certain that we will find many documents there of importance. We should make it a point to visit a military building, so that we are able to bring back weapons as well. There might also be scientific documents of importance in the military bases, which could help us." He also knew that America wished to look for weapons. While that couldn't be their top priority, he did wish to honor America's request. The weapons would be good for everyone, not just the scientists.
When he was certain that America had no more questions to ask, he withdrew one of the knives from his belt, flipping it and offering it silently to America. If the blond did not have one before, then he could at least have one now. Japan could rely mostly on his katana, and the other assorted knives on his person should he need them. Once America was ready, he gestured for them to begin to head down into the ruins, their swift but nearly silent pace warming his chilled skin.

America nodded at Japan's statement, already readying himself to search for the most important-looking documents. He was sure they would be labeled accordingly. The officials didn't make the useful stuff look like everything else, obviously, so if he could just keep a close eye out, he'd be able to spot something that would be helpful, especially if it had to do with science or medicine. Those were their primary concerns at the moment; he could worry about weapons when the time to worry about them came.
He gratefully took the knife that Japan was offering him, giving a wide grin to show his thanks. Guns wouldn't be helpful at all in a stealth mission. Shooting while trying to be sneaky? Nope. Japan would probably murder him if that ever happened. (Of course, America couldn't actually see Japan doing that. The guy could get mad, sure, but America doubted it would be anything too severe. Still, he wasn't completely ready to be reprimanded by a nation three times his age. Four times? How old was Japan, anyway?)
Pushing all other thoughts out of his mind, America followed the Asian country, stepping lightly on his feet and still managing to move rather quickly. He kept alert, though, just in case any zombies appeared, eyes darting from side to side.
The capital building was steadily coming into sight, and America couldn't help but wonder if they would get any nasty surprises upon opening the doors. He didn't suspect that to be one of the main hideouts of the zombies (those were reserved for the more public of buildings, such as medical centers or whatnot), but one could never be too careful, especially in a situation such as this.
