Name: England [Arthur Kirkland]

Appearance: Dem eyebrows.
Personality:
General- Irritable little fellow, he is uncomfortable with showing his feelings because he believes that people will try to take advantage of it if he does. When he was young, he used to be a lot more expressive, and got ridiculed for it, so he learned from his 'mistakes' and hid behind a cold front. He will often yell at people and be rude to try and cover slip-ups, but feels guilty if ever the other person is insulted in any way.
Social awkwardness- So, one thing is for sure: England is horrible with emotions. Not knowing how to act and react make him nervous, so he's short-tempered and irritated most of the time. Deep inside, though, he has a soft heart hidden behind a shield of steel, and despite not showing any hurt or joy on the outside, he will be deeply affected by however others treat him. He doesn't easily forgive and forget, either. He is also embarrassed by a lot of subjects, especially when they concern his personal life, and will cover the embarrassment by getting irritated and angry.
Sweet & Sour- He's also very cynical and a master of subtle sarcasm, using it to counter against mockery and teasing. As soon as someone he interacts with gets even a bit aggressive, his "self-defense" kicks in, and his tongue turns to poison. This comes from his childhood as well, during the Roman occupation, when the higher ups treated him like just another territory of the empire, and England was often ignored and uncared for. Expected to stay subdued, he developed his talent for cynicism and sarcasm so he could pretend to be subdued, but fight back with the acid in his words.
Nyctophobia- England also has fears, just like everybody else. One of his more concrete fears is his fear of the dark. His island has always been rainy and gloomy, so from his very beginnings, his life has been a bit 'dark'. The fear became concrete during WWII, during the London Blitz, when for 57 days, he had to turn all the lights off and hide, fearing that when he turned the lights on again, he'd find nothing but the rubble and bodies left from what used to be his homeland. The blackout measures they have in the warehouse remind him very much of that time of waiting in bated breath, wondering if everything would be alright, so he often searches for company during blackouts.
Atelophobia- One of his less apparent fears is the fear of making mistakes. England is practically paranoid about making the right decision, since making the wrong decisions in the past cost him his entire empire and all he'd lived for. Losing America was the first mistake that started his fear, and slowly seeing the sun set on his empire convinced him that it was because of his awful decision-making that the rest of his empire was dissolved. So from then on, he has always thought twice, long, and hard about his decisions before making them, fearing that one mistake would destroy him all over again.
Eremophobia- Last, but not least, his semi-obvious fear is the fear of loneliness. England hates loneliness, despite vehemently denying that he doesn't mind it, because of the simple fact that he's been alone his entire life. He was born in a "survival of the fittest" environment and was bullied by his brothers, his only siblings, leading him to believe not to trust anyone. All his human friends, predictably, died or left at some point, as well. As he grew and was isolated from his brothers during the Roman period, he learned that no matter what he did, he would always be alone. So he took it as a given and kept going after that with personal gain as motivation. When he found America and finally stopped being so alone, it was like a new door had been opened, and didn't close after America left him. England, left alone now that his very first companion had left him, started craving company and starting to hate being alone more and more. Slowly, as his empire started falling apart, he found himself being distanced by the people he once considered friends and family, and feared that he would lose everybody at some point. He was even more scared when Ireland fought to leave him, and Scotland attempted to. And when, during WWII, he was left to face off against Germany's attacks all alone, his fear became concrete. After that, being alone for a long time became almost unbearable for him. That's why his very first week in the warehouse was a shattering experience for him, all alone, literally, in a place surrounded by enemies.
Authority to be Respected... Hopefully- England is very conscious of his responsibilities, so when he was given the responsibility to command the warehouse, he took his responsibility very seriously. He has studied zombies and survival techniques for the apocalypse thoroughly, hoping to be able to protect the nations under his command. He really is determined to make the nations' stay in the warehouse as pleasant as staying in a warehouse surrounded by zombies can get, and is determined to work as hard as he can to insure the safety and wellbeing of everybody under his charge.
In the End- Years and years of war, rebellion, betrayal, pain, and mistreatment have made England a distant person. He is hesitant to interact on an informal basis with anyone because is extremely afraid of being hurt again if he does open up his heart. Still, he will not object to getting to know people, and will, at the very least, make sure everybody under his charge is safe and sound.
It wouldn't do for a gentleman to leave his charges in the open, now would it?
Relations with other chars: On good terms with his Commonwealth above all. On peaceful terms with most European countries, and somewhat bitter towards Asians for 'stealing' the international spotlight now that they have become superpowers.
Bitter frenemy with France, as usual, but is willing to work together with him if it's absolutely necessary. He doesn't see him much nowadays, and to be honest with himself... he does somewhat miss him... BUT JUST A LITTLE.
The European nation he trusts most at the current moment is, surprisingly, Spain, though he doesn't trust him as much as he trusts America. He knows Spain is responsible and reliable on a professional level, but is still so-so with interacting with him on a personal level.
He is very cold with Argentina as their rocky history doesn't help the fact that she's one of the South American nations that have barricaded themselves and refuse to help them out. It's mostly just a front, though, as he has observed a few instances when he somehow managed to have a civilized conversation with her.
He's currently datingand madly in love with America, trusts him the most out of all the nations around, and wants to protect him with the best of his abilities. He cannot deny the fact that he is sexually attracted to America, too, and after so long being denied (by his conscience and obligations), he is... eager, to say the least, to be able to be loved that way. Surprisingly, he'd much rather guide America into topping than top himself, despite obviously having more experience. Perhaps he wants to educate America, just like the good old days. Or maybe he just wants to be held close.
He is also on good terms with Canada, still considering him something like a son despite him being independent for a long time now. He is quite protective of him and is always looking out for him (from afar).
He is still on very rocky terms with his siblings, though he is making effort to work with them, especially Scotland. The good old Kirkland habit of "let me show you how much I love you by punching your teeth out" still runs between them, though, so they're constantly at one another's throats. Nonetheless, though they all royally get on England's nerves, he still does tolerate them. Mostly.
Special abilities: Dark offensive magic, used within a tight limit.

Short range weapon of choice: A trench pike (that he first used during WWI and then fell in love with. The zombie infestation was his cue to bust out his old weapon and order a sturdy, durable replacement).

But he didn't show it, because if he, the hero, was to be scared, who would save Arthur from his misery?
"Why do you believe in me so much, Alfred? We barely know each other." Arthur blinked up at him.
"You're strong, Arthur, I know you are. You might not know me, but I know you. I know a lot about you, and it would be creepy if I didn't have my motives."
"What would those be?"

"-To be your friend." Alfred slid his best fake smile on, because now was not the time to let Arthur know how he'd really felt the entire time.
Arthur might not even reciprocate his feelings, and that'd end in total disaster for both of them.
"I'm a failure, why would you want to be my friend?" Arthur threw a weary gaze at Alfred.
"Don't let words poison your mind, you're not a failure. On the contrary, you're smart, funny, and a mystery in your own special way. And I, for one, never want you to change, because you're amazing just the way you are."
The sight of Alfred smiling like that made Arthur want to laugh and cry at the same time. So he did. Letting out a choked noise that was a mix between laughter and a sob, he threw his arms around Alfred's neck and buried his nose in his scarf, smelling that special scent that was so unique and so Alfred , and that he loved so much."
