Missions are different types of roleplays than regular roleplays done anywhere else on the forum. Mission roleplays are done in the hopes of finding clues that will lead to a discovery, so there are some extra things to be explained about them. Read on, I'll try not to make it too long >_<
GENERAL
- The goal of a mission is to discover a technology or an information necessary to the survival of the Nations. Therefore, missions will only be active in the time it takes for the participants to complete it. Once a mission is accomplished, it will be closed to further roleplay.
- For each mission, there will be a few squads, each with a different goal. Once put together, these goals will create the answer that will lead you to the final hurdle (which will generally be the lab scientists' job to clear).
- The rules in the General Rules section still stand as tightly as ever, if not tighter, especially for the post consistency rule. Try to be very active when you're completing a mission because the success of the mission depends on each and every one of the participating Nations.
CLUES AND HINTS
- The primary goal of a mission is finding the hints hidden throughout the roleplay that everyone can take a shot at solving in an effort to make new discoveries.
- Therefore, watch out for anything peculiar in the Zombie Mod's posts. For every mission, there will be one type of particularity, used by the Mod to reveal the hints to every squad.
- If you think you have figured out what it is, discuss it with other squads in the Communications thread of your current mission. Make sure you're not collecting false information by making sure that the other squads are also looking for the same particularity as you.
It might be a bit hard to visualize, but you can find below an example of what a mission will look like.
EX.: MISSION ABC
+ In the Mission Briefing thread: England: "Blablabla I'm explaining the backstory of the mission and what the goals of each squads are. Also, the hint to the final answer if as follows. "Prussia (7 letters)""
+ In the Squad 1 RP: Zombie Mod: "The zombies attacked."
+ In the Squad 2 RP: Zombie Mod: "Two zombies stepped over the fallen and stumbled towards the Nations."
+ In the Squad 3 RP: Zombie Mod: "With a loud moan, the zombie sunk its rotted teeth into England's arm."
+ In the Communications thread: Nation A: "I think the particularity is the unnecessary capitals in the texts."
Nation B: "Actually, I think they're the underlined letters."
Nation C: "Agreed."
Nation D: "True... Everybody collect underlined letters, then!"
+ In the Mission Report thread:
Squad 1 report by Nation B: "We found the letters A and E."
Squad 2 report by Nation E: "We found the letters W and S."
Squad 3 report by Nation G: "We found the letters O, M and E."
Nation A: "What do you think the answer is?"
Nation H: "A seven-lettered word, with a hint being 'Prussia'..."
Nation C: "Awesome?"
Nation D: "Yeah, that's it!"
Nation F: "Okay, let's bring this information back to the warehouse. Good job, everyone! Mission accomplished!"
[[END EXAMPLE]]
- Particularities will become harder and harder to detect as the missions progress. The 10th mission to be available will be much harder to solve than the 2nd, for example.
- If you are gone for too long, or are too inactive, the Zombie Mod reserves the right to attack your char and bite him/her, forcing his/her squad-mates to call HQ and ask for a medic dispatch (if there isn't already one on their team). This will cause your squad to lose precious time and force your char into the infirmary until either the right vaccine is discovered, or you get the vaccine and go through the side-effects before healing completely.
- tl;dr make sure you're going to be active if you decide to volunteer for a mission. Or else bad things will happen.
TEAMS AND SQUADS
- The entirety of Nations that signed up to accomplish the mission is called a team. It can range from 3 to 23 people. But let's try to keep teams to about 10 per mission. People who couldn't go on the first mission will go on the second, and so on.
- Squads are sub-divisions of the team. Each squad, composed of 3-4 people, will have its own section of the mission to carry out, and consequentially, its own RP thread. Squads will not communicate with one another unless it's in the Communications thread. Each squad will have its own collection of hints that they will communicate with the other squads in an effort to find the answer to the mission.
- Each squad will have 2 positions to fill, so 2 people from each squad will have temporary duties to fulfill during missions. Each squad will have a leader and a liaison agent. Both of these will be decided by the squad members right before the beginning of the mission.
- The leader is just a fancy title for the person who is going to be in charge of overseeing the progress of the mission. It is his/her responsibility to make sure that all the squad members are okay and in good health, and that they're making good progress towards their goal. The leader doesn't actually deal with hints: he/she deals more with the smoothness of the roleplay itself.
- The liaison agent is going to be the person who will report the findings of the squad to the Communications thread. Once all the liaison agents from every squad have reported their hints, the entire team can put their brains together and figure out the answer.
- One elected person can go write the answer in the "Mission Analysis" board (in the thread with the current mission's name), where ALL the Nations on the ENTIRE forum, even ones that haven't participated in the missions, can help in solving the case and making a new discovery.
That's it. Wow, that's pretty long. Well, I hope missions are clear for you now. Missions will be announced in the Daily News thread 2-3 days before the mission actually becomes available for playing. So basically, you have 2-3 days to send your name by PM to me so that I can sign you up for the mission.
At the end of the 2-3 days, I will start a mission briefing in a meeting in the Meeting room board, and announce the team/squads. You will then be required to confirm your participation to the mission and choose your leader and liaison agent. You will have 2 days to accomplish this.
So on the 4-5th day after the mission is first announced, it will begin. The squads will be dispatched and the roleplay with the Zombie Mod will start. It will not end until all squads have found their hints, compiled them, and found the final answer.
After that, there will be a week or two of breaks, and another mission will be announced.
That's pretty much it. I know this is very complicated (it made sense in my mind! ;A; ) so if EVER you have questions, feel free to either PM me or ask away in the Questions thread in the General category. It'll be a pleasure to answer as quickly as I can.
