Though America saw Norway coming, his mind didn't register anything until his arm was actually hit. "Damn," he hissed, quickly drawing back. Well, at least he got another hit in, yes? All in all, he felt as if he wasn't doing as poorly as he had first assumed. His arm throbbed for a few seconds and he shot Norway a smile. He shouldn't show the enemy he was in pain. Even if Norway was hardly the enemy.
Gripping his sword tightly (and sending another wave of pain up his arm), America studied Norway's position. If he were to be fighting zombies with a sword, he ought to go for the head. Could he possibly aim for the neck, then? No, he'd have to destroy the brain. Again, he thrust forward, aiming for Norway's head this time and hoping he didn't mess up too badly.

America shoot Norway a smile and that confused him for a bit, but he didnt have time to think on that. He was in the middle of a fight and he couldnt get distracted even if it was for a second. Then, he noticed that America was aiming for his head. Panicing a bit, but not showing it in the slightest, he raised the wooden sword in defense.
He felt the impact on the sword and his feet drove back a few inches on the ground. 'Damn...' Norway thought to himself. This wasnt going to be good, now this was all about streangth, and compared to America, Norway did not stand a chance. Norway drove his feet into the ground more and dared to take a step to gain more ground then the American.

Once Norway brought his sword up, America pressed down harder on his, determined not to let the smaller nation win this battle. He needed to prove his strength (as if they didn't know already), and he really needed to show that he could handle a sword quite nicely. However, the harder he pushed down, the more he realized the swords were simply sliding off of each other, until the force at which he was pushing sent him stumbling backward, his sword having been properly deflected.
Okay, so perhaps Norway really was amazing with the sword. America began taking note of the moves he made, especially with the defense.

Norway smiled and pressed harder. He was determined to win this! He thought for a moment, what was going to be his next move? Finally, it came to him. When he thought he put enough pressure on the sword, he used his speed and moved out of the way of America and went behind him and knocked America to his knees.
Yes! This was his chance! He put the wooden sword to America's back and said, "I win this round."

America wasn't exactly certain what one should do when a sword was pointed at their back. If it were a gun, America would have reluctantly surrendered, but...swords were different than guns. Swords couldn't exactly kill with the simple movement of a finger. Would America have to accept defeat on this, or was there still a way to win?
The more America thought about it, though, the more he realized that Norway was fast. That was already a given fact. What was to stop him from bringing the sword down on America with a flick of his wrist? If the Hollywood movies had taught America anything, it was that he should probably surrender while being held at sword-point. "Be honest with me- any way I can get outta this mess?" America asked with a nervous laugh.

With a sigh, Norway moved the sword away from America's back. This was his first win in a while, well it had been a while since he had practiced with a sword and Norway was still rusty when it came to his moves. He couldnt remember the last time he was actually in a real fight with a real sword. Mabey it was his last days as being a viking...or was it during the time when religion was introduced to the scandinavia region. But these thoughts didnt really matter right now.
"Here." Norway said extending his hand to America and saying, "I will be honest, with you. But it looks like you need some help getting up."

With a groan, America grabbed Norway's hand and quickly pulled himself up. He couldn't believe he let himself lose. Since when did he lose a battle? He was freaking America, for god's sake, and America wasn't supposed to lose! America was supposed to strike down his enemy and take home the title of 'Noble Defender', or something like that. A pout came across his face and he averted his eyes from Norway, suddenly feeling very self-conscious.
"It was just 'cause I'm no good with swords, ya know," he muttered, crossing his arms over his chest, feeling bruises starting to form at the places where Norway had hit him. "If I was at your level, and if I was actually trying harder, I would have won."

Norway chuckled a bit. This guy. "Well, it would be practically impossible to be at my level unless you had hundreds and hundreds of years fighting with the sword, but never mind that right now. It was a good first start but I hope with my help you can try and be up to my level in a few short days of practice." Norway said all at once. He felt some what like a teacher at the moment, a teacher to a country who was two times his size and could pulvirize him to a pulp if he wanted to...this was gonna be tough.

America sighed, feeling a little sense of jealousy well up within him. He wanted to be good at the sword. He wished he could have been alive for longer so he would be able to experience the rich history that the others had. He wanted to know how to fight with multiple weapons. He wanted to be able to declare that he won more wars than anyone. In reality, though, he hadn't and he probably wouldn't.
Still, at least Norway was trying to help him. That had to count for something. "What did I do wrong that time around?" America asked, eager to learn his mistakes so as to not repeat them again.

"You dont think about your moves when you attack. You act like Denmark when you fight, and that is not a great thing." Norway said frowning. Just the mention of Denmarks name made him remeber those days of arguing and fighting constantly. Suprisingly those times were days that he wished he could go back to. but sadlythat wouldn't happen anytime soon. Norway shook his head to clear those thoughts and continued.
"Secondly, you leave yourself open for easy attacks for your middle, and your sides. An example is when I got you in your stomac and knocked the wind out of your body. And lastly you should use that crazy streangth that you have to your advantage. When you and I had our swords connect, you could have easily beaten me, but you didnt. And thats basically it."

If there was ever to be the demise of America, it would probably have to be him charging into a situation without thinking. He had been told about his idiocy many times before- been there, done that. It was much easier to charge into something with a gun, though, or, hell, even his fists. All he had to do was pull a trigger or use his immense strength and, boom, winner. Swords, though...he sighed, glancing down at the wooden training sword he held in his hands. These things were just a bit more difficult.
"So, I should think more," he commented, trying to take everything Norway said to heart, trying to make sure he did better next time. "I need to plan out my attacks and have a strategy? And...I should block more and use more of my strength while on the offensive." He nodded, letting out a deep breath. One didn't have to use these techniques while fighting with guns. Still, they were very useful to have and he was overly grateful to the other country for helping him out.
"If I had done all that my first try, I would have won?"

"Probebly. But mabey not, since those were the only ones I've seen. There may be more but the ones I listed are the main ones I saw in short notice. But you might have one since your taller then me and stronger then me." Norway said somewhat not giving a good or clear responce.

"Being taller and stronger gives me an advantage in sword fighting? I understand the stronger part, but..." He would have assumed that, considering how difficult of an opponent Norway was, that the smaller you were, the better you would be. It would be easier to dodge attacks and you might even be lighter on your feet. However, if being tall had it's advantages, America wasn't going to complain.
Well, no matter. If Norway said so, he should listen- wasn't Norway one of those vikings or something? He'd been around and handling swords for a greater length of time than America had been alive, probably. "Anyway, what do you think I should work on first?" He hated being reduced to 'the learner', but if it was necessary to grow stronger, he'd suck it up.

"Hmm..." Norway thought for a while. There was a good amout of things that he wanted to work on with America so he thought that he would work with the biggest detail first. "Working on a stradigy would be the thing that you need most help on. If you perfect that, some problems will decrease hopefully."

"Right." America nodded, trying to figure out exactly how he should work on a strategy. He wanted to ask Norway, but he felt he was already being too inquisitive, not to mention weak. If he wanted to become stronger and better able to fight with a sword, he'd need to actually work a few things out on his own. Besides, how hard could it be? He was the hero, after all, and heroes always prevailed in the end.
Still, he couldn't go on being completely clueless, could he? "So, um...how exactly do I plan that out?" Goodness, he was already hating himself for asking.
