Sun was rising. Sky was filled up with gorgeous colours and brightness was increasing all the time, lighting up the world around the warehouse. Rays of sun hit the glimpses of snow, making them sparkle. Some of the snow had already melted of, revealing the bare ground underneath it. It wasn’t hard to see that spring was coming. The weather was getting warmer everyday, and even little bit of rise on the temperature was pleasant difference form Canada’s freezing winter.
Belgium sat on the roof, looking at the sky. She had been sitting here since four on the morning, after waking up from a horrible nightmare. She hardly remembered anymore what had happened in the dream that had shortened her sleep, not that it even mattered now. She couldn’t go back to sleep anymore, and honestly, she wasn’t even tired. As the woman had sat on the roof for a while now, she had seen the first rays of sun in the horizon. Slowly, stars vanished into sun’s light, until you couldn’t see them no more. It was all so beautiful. Despite the terrible tragedy that has struck the mankind, earth could still be as beautiful as before.
Nation felt the slight breeze on her skin, as it made her wavy blonde hair to flow on her face. She put the fled ringlets behind her ear and closed her eyes for a while. With no sense of sight, she rather listened her surroundings. Belgium heard distant noises that breeze carried within, noises of the undead who never slept. She also heard silent clatter from the inside. Someone else seemed to be waking up as well. Soon it would be time for her to go inside as well, eat something and to prepare for the tasks of the day. But not yet. She wanted to enjoy the beautiful scenery and peace for a while.

The clatter from within happened to be young Czech Republic. She was not a morning person. Anyone could see that from the look on her face when she got out of her bunk. She was dressed in a knee length night gown made of soft white cotton. Her usually well-kept auburn hair was in a disarray, knots everywhere.
She had woken up on account that she needed some tea for she was, yet again sick with a cold. The one thing about her appearance that was no different from any other day was her scarlet red scarf that she seemed to always have.
The reason behind it was her weak immune system. Since a small child she would get sick and thus was always fussed over. She used the scarf to keep her warm and to also slyly hide her coughing so that no one would notice her occasional coughing. With a brush in hand she battled her persistent tangles and knots in her hair as she made her way to the kitchen thinking of what she would need to help her sore throat. There was of course honey but thought that might not of been good to use being that they had to ration everything. Perhaps a good peppermint tea would be best.
She was forced to stop as her sharp ears heard the sound of the Zombies in the wind. She sighed shaking her head, now she had to head up to the roof to look out. Now it wasn’t her job to do this but she always set certain goals for herself and as a scout she had to see if a threat was near or not. Every time she heard the undead creatures she’d head up to the roof to survey. Just as a precaution of course.
Without a problem she was on the rooftop her bare feet feeling cold yet felt a little warmth from the sun that had risen not too long ago. Her blue green eyes fell outside home base scanning but couldn’t help but admire the scenery…Canada truly was a beautiful nation though she wished that it wasn’t as cold as it was. She checked over once more not seeing anything that would have been called a threat but paused as her nose now caught something.
She looked up seeing that she was not alone on the roof. She recognized Belgium right away. Though she knew all of her fellow European Nations most of them did not know the small determined nation that was Czech. On the day of her country’s independence almost every European Nation came at once and created alliances at once. In that time the young lady learned each face and name and came to like Belgium because she was smart, enjoyable company and very beautiful. She kind of felt envious of this but only just a little to where it didn’t bother all that much.
‘Should I say hello?’
She gave a moment’s time to think it over then clearing her throat called out to the female nation.
“Ahoj Miss Belgium lovely morning isn’t it?”

Hearing the voice, Belgium quickly turned around to face the speaker. Other nation stood in front - or maybe behind, depends if were talking about the face or the back - of her. The girl was wearing a white dress, which appeared to be designed for sleeping, and she was also wearing a red scarf around her neck. Auburn hair shone as the rays of just risen sun played with brown tresses.
Belgium herself was wearing her usual beige uniform. Her wavy hair was put the usual way as well, ribbon tied on her neck. She had quite a collection of those ribbons, and each of them was precious to her. Of course, some of them had gone lost throughout the centuries. It was always a tragedy when it happened. Some of them she had bought herself, and some were gifts from friends. Even Netherlands had bought a few for her. This time the colour of the hair accessory was green, like her eyes, which were fixated on the other nation right now.
“Hello, Czech!” blonde greeted the eastern European nation with the usual, cheerful tone and a friendly smile. Continuing to talk, she asked “What brings you up here so early?” It wasn’t even that early anymore, but still, most of the nations that didn’t have any duties would still be asleep at this time in the morning.
Maybe she had sleeping trouble as well? Belgium knew she wasn’t only one with nightmares here. Whether it was for the uneasy rolling in bed, or hearing some one wake up in cold sweat, it wasn’t hard to know they were all troubled. She had taken care of few children in history, and nightmares weren’t unfamiliar to her. However, here most of them were fully grown adults, who had lived much longer than average humans. Probably because of that, all the horrible things you could see when you lived so long, bad dreams weren’t rare for them. Western European nation hoped this wasn’t the cause for other girl to rise up. She hated when others felt bad, and seeing a nightmare definitely made your mood go down.

Czech brightened. She was recognized, what a relief. How awkward it would be to say hello to someone you knew by face and they couldn't even remember her name. It had happened once or twice like when she had finally gotten the courage to say hello to Romano only to be embarressed when he asked who she was.
Pushing her unruely hair from her eyes she flashed a rather shy smile to Belgium. Though she acted older and mature she was really just a shy child at heart who needed to warm up to a person before talking freely.
"Oh I was--I was just surveying around the home base for Zombies. Its...one of my rituals in the morning..." She felt like slapping herself in the head. To her such a thing sounded ridiculous it was after all not one of her duties.
She shook her head of her self scolding starting to fiddle with her scarf one of the habits she picked up since her childhood. A sure sign she was nervous.
"So um...what brings you up here Miss Belgium? Couldn't sleep?"

“Yeah, I couldn’t sleep that well… But I got enough sleep anyway so it doesn’t matter. It’s not like I’ve been here whole night!” That was somewhat a lie, but she didn’t really want to tell the truth. It’s not like she lied often, and usually felt bad about it. But Manon didn’t want to worry anyone either, especially with something as small as this.
Continuing to speak, she answered to the first sentence Czech had said. “It’s great when people are dedicated to their work, you seem to do your job with care. In times like this it’s always better safe than sorry. Maybe I should do that as well…” Not that she was lazy, far from it. Routines just weren’t her thing; she rather helped when it was needed.
Sun had rose even higher, and was now lighting up the whole sky. Despite the sunny weather, it was chilly outside. Spring was coming, but it was still cold up in Canada. Wind felt warm at skin, but overall temperatures were still pretty low. Other girl was wearing only a nightdress - which didn’t look very thick – and a scarf. Wondering, Belgium asked “Aren’t you cold?” Nations weren’t as sensitive as humans, but notwithstanding they could feel uncomfortable. And Belgium counted feeling cold as uncomfortable. She wasn’t a big fan of rain and snow and preferred sun and warmness.

A small sigh of relief came over Czech. She looked at her strangely. Had she just been complimented? The nation was use to be critisized by her brothers as well as other nations who had 'raised' her during her youth. Hearing a compliment was strange and very foreign to her and never knew how to react to it.
"Uh--Um...I'm just a regular scout...not even one of the more better ones...its only to compensate for what I can't do..."
She was quick to dodge the compliment quickly not able to brag for it reminded her too much of her annoying brother, Poland.
She perked when she was asked if she was cold. She then looked down at her feet and wiggled her toes in the small snow present on the roof. Smiling she looked up at Belgium showing her one of her sweetest looks.
"Oh it's fine Miss Belgium! I've had to spend days without shoes in the home of my cousin Russia! This is nothing!"

“But isn’t that just terrible!” Belgium exclaimed, without thinking. Right after that she realised how rude it must’ve had sound, and started to fix her mistake. “I just thought that sounds really bad, since it’s so cold in Russia and all…” she muttered, blushing a bit. She definitely wasn’t mean person, and usually not even rude. She just had a tendency to talk before thinking. And comment of the other nation had raised her maternal instinct to the surface.
Belgium quickly changed the topic after that, with a wish that she hadn’t upset the eastern European nation. “What kind of tasks are you having today?” she asked. They were both scouts, but hadn’t worked together yet. Belgium thought that is would be fun to work with Czech since she seemed like good worker. She should mention it; probably they could work out something to do together. There was always stuff to do.
One reminder of “stuff to do” were the constant voices of zombies, that wind carried within. Belgium herself hadn’t been here in the midwinter, but she assumed that there were fewer zombies back then, since they were frozen and whatnot. Warming weather bought them back to. Spring was supposed to be the season of everything coming back to life. Apparently it applied to undead as well.

Czech shook her head at Belgium's remark. No it wasn't terrible...she was being to generous towards her dear sweet beloved cousin of hers. And cold? Oh it was always cold no matter how many times you tried to keep yourself warm with the many layers you could put on. She saw that the nation was blushing making her realize that she must of thought that she insulted her.
"Oh you are most definantly right to say that Miss Belgium! My cousin Russia is nothing short of a cruel man! He'd make my brother and I do worst things while in his control..."
Yes other things...things that she would never speak of with another nation so long as she lived. She and Slovakia agreed that it was better if they just kept their time with Russia a secret.
Though she was badmouthing Russia she had a very sweet smile on her face. She was his cousin, his family and thus had the freedom to talk about him as much as she wanted! And it wasn't like he was going to punish her for it...he was far too terrified to even lay a hand on her nowadays and for good reason. A small dark aura came over her as did a borderline smile as she did when she would take about Russia.
"But its all fine now! I hold no ill will towards Cousin Russia! I love him dearly!" Yes she did...like an owner of a rabbit who petted it and petted it until she snapped its neck.
"What king of tasks are you having today?" Czech paused thinking over her day quietly then gave a casual shrug.
"I just have to patrol the forests today...there have been said that a small horde might be planning to make that their next hunting grounds...so I have to go scout to make sure that the others don't bump into any unwelcomed guests when gathering supplies."
She looked off towards the forests direction her eyes narrowed. She hated those woods...though it was a small forest she still had the creeps when near it for it always seemed to smell of death when she entered.

(( Sorry for the late reply! ))
It wasn’t rare that nations disliked or even hated each other. Holding grudges wasn’t unusual either. However, Czech had insisted that she didn’t have such feelings towards Russia. This felt weird to Belgium, as other nation had just spoke ill of him. Despite this, she didn’t take up the subject anymore, as she felt she had already upset the other girl. Every nation had their own past, with others and within themselves and their leaders. While some of them were very open with it, some didn’t like at all when they were meddled with. While Manon was still curious about her past, she held her tongue this time.
Hearing the answer of other girl, blonde started wondering about her day. She herself didn’t have any tasks assigned for today. She had had few patrol duties throughout the time she had spent here, but overall she had little to no experience. Belgium had arrived to the warehouse somewhat later than many, and most of the nations were much more skilled with dealing with zombies. At times she felt useless, but it always helped to think that no one had been reserved for the apocalypse, as some called the zombie invasion.
Thinking these thoughts, she had to ask other nation “How long have you been here?” Manon had thought that maybe she could help the other with patrolling, but if Czech was much more experienced than her then she would only be a burden. Also, she was overall curious about what had happened here before she came, and eastern European nation could probably shed some light on the matter, even if it was only for her part.

(Its fine hun! *glomps* )
"How long have you been here?"
Czech's thoughts were interrupted when Belgium asked this question. She stood there quietly. She hadn't really been keeping track of how long she had been there at the warehouse. She had far more important things to worry over than the time spent here.
After giving it some thought she turned to Belgium with a very thoughtful look.
"Um...well I don't have an exact number...but I was one of the very first to arrive here!"
She this happily yet deep down felt a twinge of pain. Had it been that long since she had seen her beloved homeland? Her eyes were cast down, though trying to hide how she felt the faintest traces of bitterness touched them.
"Its been a while since I've seen my lands...smell the fresh air, run in the grassy fields and annoy the hell out of my neighbors, Austria and Hungary with my brother Slovakia."
At the mention of her twin she paused then smiled once more finding a possitive side to this.
"But its not so bad here! I have all my brothers and sister here as well as most of my cousins! And so long as I have my family I am in the best condition!"
Her eyes fell onto the forest again thinking over what she would need and calculated how long it would take her to get there. She gave a sideways look to Belgium.
"Miss Belgium you're a scout too right? Maybe you'd like to accompany me on my little trip?"

It was always nice to hear that despite the bad condition the world had sunk into people – and nations - could still be happy and pleased. Her family and people close to her meant a lot to Belgium as well, and she was happy that her brother was here with her, and that he was safe. She hadn’t talked to him much, but even the very presence of him made her feel safe. Likewise she was happy about Spain and Romano being here. This place wasn’t her homeland, but her family was here, and that was enough now. "I know how you feel. My family is a huge reason for me to stay cheerful as well.”
"Miss Belgium you're a scout too right? Maybe you'd like to accompany me on my little trip?"
Manon was thankful that the other had asked, since she had been wondering about this for so long. She turned her face to look at the specific direction of other nation to answer the the aforementioned question. “I’d be very gratified to work with you!” she said with glee. Working with zombies wasn’t a pleasure, but working with other nations was. And Czech seemed like a lovely girl to spend time with. Belgium was going to continue her speech, but the words were cut by the sudden rumbling of her stomach. Blushing slightly, she said instead "…Maybe I should get something to eat. Are you feeling hungry yet?”

Czech felt her cheeks flush in sudden cheer whe Belgium accepted her proposal half expecting her to say no. When she asked the other Scouts to accompany her they usually made excused as to why they couldn't. One could say that maybe they just wanted to get of the work or perhaps it was how Czech got when she was near a Zombie. Then again Belgium never worked with her before so she was as of now unpredjudce.
"Thank you so much Miss Begium! It will be nice to have company! That place can feel a little...spooky."
Her sharp ears heard Belgium's stomach growl at her making her stiffle a childish giggle. "…Maybe I should get something to eat. Are you feeling hungry yet?” Czech was about to answer but her stomach answered for herself as she looked down in surprise. It seemed like the sound of Belgium's growl made he aware that she was hungry. She flashed a grin giving a small blush herself.
"Yes I do believe that I need food as well! And I need to get dressed!" She looked down at her night gown and barefeet that had grown numb. "Lets get ready and we'll make our way to the woods after breakfast!" She said this while turning around and marched off to get ready as she had said before all the while feeling her happiness levels rise. She seemed to had made a brand new friend and if that wasn't enough to make her happy what else could!

Belgium was excited for the forthcoming day. Although going into the forest wasn’t the most pleasant thing to do, but it was great that she had company. And her company seemed quite pleased as well. Manon was happy that she had been able to relieve the nervousness of other nation. She had a feeling that she wouldn’t be too useful in a battlefield, due to her inexperience with zombies. However, if she were able to do her job as a scout well, and make the other one happy too, it would be enough for her. But what she wanted right now was breakfast. European started to walk towards the door that would lead her inside, to the warmth and food. She heard more noises the closer she came. It seemed that even more people had woken up.
Girls had decided that they would meet after breakfast, and proceed to the forest. Before that western European nation should go pack some stuff she’d need with her, such as her guns. She should change clothes as well, since the jacket she was currently wearing was quite thin and not very warm. Spring was coming, but the spring of Canada was cold nevertheless. Before leaving the rooftop, Belgium gazed at the sky. Sun had completely arisen, yet a cold wind was blowing. Blonde shuddered because of the chilly breeze, and then hurried inside into the warmth.
(( No need to reply to this, I'll mark this thread as done now. I'll start new thread in the forest after I come off hiatus, so it may take a while. I'll pm it to you after I've done it~ ))
