Hong Kong's walk down to the training grounds was slow. Very slow. It wasn't like he hated training. In fact he enjoyed practicing with his Liuyedao every morning. It was more like who he was being forced to train with. It was HER. He knew from experience that she was as clumsy as....as.....someone really, really clumsy. And the fact that they were in this annoying tournament together really topped it off.
'Because it couldn't have been anyone else but her.'
She reminded him way too much off a time in the far distant past, when zombies were nothing more than mere urban legends or things to shot at in Japan and America's video games. It reminded him of when his family really was a family, not just a group of nations categorized by a single characteristic. Of a time when Singapore and himself were closer then siblings, before falling to pieces.
He wished that he had someone other than his own family here that he could confide in, talk to. But he couldn't wish for that, because their was only one person he'd ever tell anything to, and he wouldn't wish for them to be here if he was going to die tomorrow. Especially if that was so. Lost in his thoughts, Hong Kong had stumbled onto the grounds much faster than he had anticipated. He glanced around to see if his training partner had arrived yet.

'Hong Kong.' Singapore thought to her herself. 'How... ironic. The one person that I was hoping not to be partnered with just happened to be paired with me.'
Singapore was in the training grounds already, waiting for Hong Kong. She had a bunch of knives in front of her. She picked up one knife and took a second to aim at the target. She threw it and it hit the bullseye.
"Not quite use to this kind of knife." she said out loud. She didn't bother talking to herself since no one was around. "I still prefer my own knife."
Actually, what she really preferred was to relax in a park with green trees and blue skies filled with puffy white clouds. She used to see that everyday at home. Now, it was only a distant memory. She shook herself out of her thoughts and picked another knife. She threw it and got another bullseye. She took three more knives in one hand and aimed it at the target again. Never missing a single one. She took her last knife and was about to aim at the empty target when she heard something beside her ear.
A bee.
She turned and saw the bee, threw the knife right at it, pinning its body on a wall. It was at that moment that she noticed a presence of another nation. She turned towards the entrance and saw her partner. Hong Kong had arrived.

"Hello, Singapore," Hong Kong crossed the room so that he was facing her eye-t- wait. It was more like eye-to-top-of-head. He had been surprised when he saw her through that knife. He thought that she didn't use a knife any more, but that showed him how much he actually knew about her any more.
'And to think she once would tell me everything'
Now he didn't even know her favorite colour. Hong Kong wished for the second time that day fro his partner to be someone else, some one he knew. Heck, he knew Belarus more than he knew Singapore. Except that she sucked at cards, because that would never, ever change.
He sighed, stepping back a little, resting one hand on the hit of his Liuyedao, and the other by his side. "So how do you want to start?"

'How do I want to start?' Singapore thought to herself. 'I would probably like to start with more target practices with my knives and you, Hong Kong, as a target.'
She smirked at her own remark. If only she had enough guts to say it out loud. She walked towards the wall with the knife--and a dead bee--and pulled it out.
"To be honest, I would probably want to practice a little more." Singapore said as she walked towards another knife. "But I guess since we're here, we could... re-acquaint ourselves."
As she plucked one of her knives from a target, she turned to look at Hong Kong.
'Damn, he got taller!'
She put her collected knives in her right hand and went to retrieve the other knives.

"Reacquaint ourselves? Uh, what about just practicing a bit?" Honestly, Hong Kong had no intention of telling Singapore- or anyone else here- about himself unless it was absolutely necessary. He didn't want to get attached, only to find that they've done something stupid, like say, dying on him or finding out that they were only using him for their own benefit.
That had been done too many times for him to repeat that mistake.
He watched her collect her knives with little interest. The teen started to fidget, pulling his Liuyedao out of it's sheath, pushing it back in quickly.
Suddenly, he pulled it out of it's Silver-Gold ceremonial covering and began to practice half-moon strikes; the blade gliding around him in swift half-circles, the ribbon whipping behind it, slightly brushing him on the face. All thoughts turned from whatever they had been thinking about and onto the activity on hand. It was something he had been doing for years, and made him slightly more relaxed.
'Yeah, swinging a sword around makes me feel relaxed and stress-free. Great'

It was sudden. Hong Kong suddenly pulled out his sword and was swinging it like crazy! Or that's what it looked like to her. She stare with a confused-glare kind of look on her face. Well, he did say to start practicing for a bit. But was practicing necessary if they needed to work together as a team during the tournament? She quickly put that thought aside. The tournament wasn't starting that soon! And she obviously didn't need to 'acquaint' herself with him.
She already picked up all her knives and put it to one side. Then, she picked up her rifle. Even though it was made especially for her by her people, it was still heavy for her. She hauled it up and placed it on the front part of her shoulder. She loaded the rifle, aimed it, and shot. The shot caused her shoulder to move back a bit. Singapore saw the bullet graze the edge of the target. She was still not used to the rifle. Knives suited her better. She sighed.
But she wasn't going to give up that easily. She readied her rifle again and shot a few rounds. The bullets were getting closer and closer to the center of the target. But she still needed more practice. She repeated this cycle of reloading her gun and shooting it until her shoulder and trigger finger was sore. She put her rifle down and say down for a long drink. A really long drink.

Hong Kong almost stopped when he heard the first few shots of Singapore's gun, before realizing that, well, it was Singapore's gun and not some nation killing a Zombie. Wow. That made him just a little paranoid didn't it?
Even so, he continued his swings with ease, switching from the half-moon routine to diagonal slashes. The make of his sword and it's blade made it difficult to do any type of stabbing, so he passed over those routines for the day. At that moment, he once again wished that he was back in his home, since the training was just a little useless without some one to train with. Or, as the time required it, fight with.
In one quick movement, the saber-Wielder snapped his blade back in it's sheath, and strode across to where Singapore stood, taping her on the shoulder lightly. "Hey,"

Singapore was drinking when she felt a sharp tap on her shoulder. Honestly, she could've reacted a bit more civilized than spitting gallons of water out of her mouth like a fire hose. But when she heard the all too familiar 'hey' from a certain country, she calmed down a bit. Of course, she was a bit embarrassed with her reaction. Especially since it was in font of that guy.
"What?" Singapore asked coughing a little. Then she noticed that Hong Kong had kept his sword in its sheath. Could it be that he was already done with practice? It couldn't be, he hardly broke a sweat! Then, maybe...
"Aww." Singapore awed as if she was looking down at a cute dog. "Is someone bored practicing by himself! Aw! You poor boy!"
She ended with a mischievous grin. Yup. He needs a training partner, but the only person around was her. He would only have a training partner if she agreed. If she agreed.
'Beg, Hong Kong!' Singapore taunted him in her mind. 'Let's see you beg!'
She should've brought a camera.

Hong Kong's eye twitched. He wouldn't-couldn't believe her nerve. Did she actually think that he was going to beg her to train with him. Instead, he shrugged his shoulders, turning on his heels as if to go back to his training exercises.
"It's fine with me if you don't want to practice, tough luck when we fight together though," Although he couldn't see her face, he wondered if she was trying to figure out how to reply.
He waited with baited breath for her answer.

"It's fine with me if you don't want to practice, tough luck when we fight together though,"
To be honest, Singapore was expecting more than that. But that was Hong Kong for you. Besides, there was no way that Hong Kong would lose his composure in front of her. She knew that too well. Or did she. She let out a sigh.
"I was kidding. I can practice with you." Singapore said. Then she realized what she just said sounded as if she wanted to practice with him. So she quickly added; "It's not like there's anything else to do anyway"
That was close. She stood up and readied herself by picking her favorite knife as placing it in her dominant hand. She let the knife settle into her skin before walking to the center of the Trainings Ground.
"Well? Are we startig?"

Hong Kong wore his characteristic smirk as he turned to face Singapore. Oh? So she wanted to practice with him? He could work with that. He watched as she walked into the middle of the room, and blinked slightly before comprehending her words. "Sure," He walked over to her, and when they were only a few feet apart, he drew his Liuyedao in a flash, pointing it at her accusingly. He was ready for whatever she decided to throw at him.
"I'm ready. And you, little girl?" the Brunette wondered how much he could piss her off before she broke her calm and wildly attacked. Having the other person lose their composure was a great way to start off a match, as it meant they weren't thinking as much as they normally would be.

As Hong Kong walked towards her, she held her breath. She only needed a trigger word that would set her off. He raised his sword at er.
"I'm ready. And you, little girl?"
And there it was. 'little girl'. That was the word. She suddenly got hot in the face and made a mad dash at him. Before he could react, she grabbed his wrist, jumped, and pinned him down in the floor. She took several deep breaths before her anger wore off. She looked straight into Hong Kong's eyes and smirked.
"There are some things which you still don't understand Hong Kong. But please keep in mind that I'm a very serious person. When I'm doing things like this, you should watch your words." Singapore told him. She stood up and walked to get original place. She took out two knives and placed one on each hand.
"Mark my words, Hong Kong. Focus more on the fighting, not in the insults. Who knows, I might kill you." A threat wouldn't hurt.

Hong Kong was honestly surprised when Singapore tackled him, and it flitted quickly across his face. But it was rapidly replaced by a small smile. Her threats both amused and terrified him at the same time. Amused because she thought that he'd actually believe half of them and terrified because he did believe the other half of them. He sat up on one elbow, his smile slowly becoming wider and wider.
"You like me too much to kill me. You'd be heart broken, admit it. And on that note, what do you think 'Uncle' China would say if he saw us like this?"
This time he didn't wait for her reaction to jump up from where he had been sitting, dashing across the room, picking up his sword from where he had dropped it. This time he would be ready for her. Putting himself in a defense stance and bracing for her attack.

She had to admit, she was hesitant now. That remark on Uncle China looking at her now would probably disappoint him. She could just hear his voice saying that this wasn't the way he raised her, or something like that. But Singapore had other matters to take care of. And even though she was still a child and sometimes acted like one, she thought like an adult. That's the magic of being a teenager.
She readied herself at the same time Hong Kong did. she adjusted the grip on her sword and ran towards him. Now that he was ready, Singapore had to think up of another way of attacking. As she ran, she noticed that Hong Kong was concentrating on Singapore's movements.
'He's probably cautious now.' Singapore thought. 'But that can be a disadvantage.'
Singapore feinted a left and went to the right. She gathered as much strength as possible to her legs and lifted herself off the ground.
'Hmm... China would be proud of this.' Singapore said to herself.
"She landed behind Hong Kong and spun around, hoping that she would be able to pin him down again. But clumsiness took over her, and almost tripped on her own foot. Now, her timing was slow. Giving Hong Kong a huge chance.

The teenager was ready for Singapore as she charged at him, getting ready for the jarring impact of sword-on-knife when the other Nation suddenly jumped. 'Okay, definitely not what I was expecting, but I can work with it' He spun around to face her, knowing that she'd have the upper hand in this fight (for now)-
She tripped. No, it wasn't simply a trip, it was a world-changing-epic-fail kind of trip that gave Hong Kong just the slightest advantage. And oh boy, was he going to take it.
He leaped over to where Singapore was stumbling around, diving down to take a swipe at her legs, trying to knock her completely off balance. And if he did managed to take her feet from under her it would grantee his victory.
And it was so close, he could taste it.
