Name: Austria [Roderich Edelstein]
Gender: Male
Appearance: ... Brown hair, glasses he doesn't actually need, ect... You should know. Unless you want the full analysis?
Personality: ...Well, here we go... You did say analyse...
His short temper is almost certainly a result of being born to fight, but not built or appropriate to do so. The same could also be said for his aloof mannerisms - also this would also come from he associations held about his country and capital. Vienna is where you go for high end musical concerts, drinking coffee and rather rude waitors who peer down their nose at you - expect him to do similar. This is also a defensive technique. Historically, the country of Austria survived the warring Europe by forming political alliances via the act of political marriages. If the understanding that this means that the nations marry is to be taken, then it would also mean that Austria would be nearly constantly getting married and divorced, and soon at war with his previous partner. This would be unsettling at best, and more likely than not the cause of him distancing himself.
The piano is a part of Austria that most people think of immediately, as though his defining feature. Having been trained to fight at a young age but not doing so, he was likely not included in activities. Music is a source of comfort to him, as it was during these times - also, the association of Vienna paticually, but all of Austria, with classical music. He also uses it to display emotions simply because he does not know how to - linking back to aloof actions, his many marriages with no love, followed by fighting the partner, not to mention his falling out with Switzerland, made him close off his emotions. As he did not openly display anything but contempt through his earlier years, he has forgotten - at one stage he also understood anger, but the adult him sees that as distasteful. Not to say he does not have emotions - he just understands them differently. He doesn't understand those of others well, either. Sometimes, he will display emotions through things such as crying. However, these are almost all limited to when he is alone - or thinks he is such. That, or something is very, very wrong. If in public, as soon as he realises such, he will stop and deny it happening.
His old fashioned ways are common for many of the countries of Europe, and easily explained by the fact that they are old, and staying old fashioned is reassuring. Some change, but he finds this unsettling. On the outside, he attempts to appear unphased, but rather he has resigned himself to this fate; the fact that the world is changing, and has change, scares him - this leads to an intense need for structure and regulation, as well as his tendancy to find someone, and cling to them. Of late, he has not been doing this as often. And, not clingy as in touching, but as in staying close - think of little Austria and little Switzerland here.
He has a very large sweet tooth, thanks to all of the pastries and cakes in his country. Before the zombies, he baked as another method of relieving stress.
Duty must be perfected, but it can wait. He always starts when he is given something, but if it does not interest him will quickly become distracted by something else. Deadlines are supposed to be adhered to, but you will sometimes find him waking at very early hours of the morning to finish something he was supposed to do weeks ago on time. Add this to his need for perfection, and it makes for trouble and sleepless nights. Some people put his procastination down to his need for perfection - he knows he cannot make it perfect, and so waits until he will allow less of himself. This is true of some projects, but generally he is just slow.
Despite playing the piano, it can take him a while to pick up new skills, and is relativly clumsy. He is also not very active - his leg are weaker than most people realise, meaning that he cannot run far, and some days not at all. As a child he could, although it would hurt him a lot, so he usually walked - or hitched a lift on Switzerland. Since then, however, they have declined. After his lands were split, he was left in a wheelchair for a number of years simply because his legs could not support his weight. They are now strong enough for short distance running or slow paced hiking trips, but not to the extent of some nations.
Despite the way he acts, he is very self-concious. Deep down he is lonely, although he keeps himself such to avoid getting hurt. (see notes on marriage.) This is one of the reasons he wears his plain lensed glasses - he thinks that they will make other people think he is clever, or at least look twice at him. He does not consder himself in any way attractive, and knows full well that he is not athletic, and that most people find him very, very hard work.
Contary to popular belief, he does have a sense of humour. It's just rather subtle, and unusual.
His obsessive need for cleanliness is partially sporned by the fact he was born for war; although he was bad at fighting, and possibly because of it, he had to be able to pick everything up and relocate very quickly - if it was a mess, this was not possible.
((Do you want more?))
Relations with other chars: For preconceptions... Prussia is an idiot, and should be treated with contempt - especially after he tried to 'absorb' Austria into the unified Germany in the 1800s. He will work with Prussia for a common aim, but usually end up disagreeing over the most appropriate resolution.
Any dealings with Switzerland are at best awkward, at worst not going to occur. As such, any with Liechtenstein would also be such.
Of all his ex-partners, Hungary was the one he was closest to during marriage, and also the one whom he continues to be closest to. She was also the one he had the greatest affection for, although he himself would probably not call it love ('love' being a word he does not use).
Spain, although they were married for a time, he views, lik most of the world, as rather foolish. During the time they were married both Italies lived with them. He views Northern Italy in a better light than his older brother (hence how the Italians were split), but that does not say much - in terms of his dealings with HRE and Italy during the time they lived with him, he was closer to the distant patriach of Victorian Britain than the modern father - keeping distance and order, but not outwardly displaying affection. He despairs slightly over Italy's apparent idiocy, although blames Spain for it.
Concerning Italy, he thinks the nation is an idiot. He is still rather embarassed about the whole dress affair concerning chibitalia, and avoids him where possible because of this. However, if Italy were in trouble which was actually dangerous, he would attempt to help him. Probably by getting somebody else to do it, but help is help is help.
For the Southern part of Italy, he is repulsed by the mouth. The two do not get on well, although could work together in a very dire situation.
The Netherlands is another of his ex-partners. In general, he was slightly afraid of the man, and still is. As such, he acts with a higher level of snappieness than people would expect him to; his grudes are long holding, it should be noted - it was during the 1400s that the two were 'married' (same for Spain).
He has participated with Russia in the act of partitioning Poland before now, and cannot say it really appealed. He has no paticular quarrel with Poland, although still regards Russia with suspicion thanks to WW2, and the fact that Hungary was on the 'wrong' side of the wall. The reasonably large Russian-born population of his country does appear to appease him to an extent; he will work if necessary, but not happily.
Austria would consider Germany one of thenations closer to him. However, he is not fond of Germany's insistance on doing hard training (however necessary), and it is not unknown for him to play the 'I am older than you' card. Figurativly speaking.
America is a country for whom Austria's dealings with him were rather limited to the two world wars, and he was on the opposing side in both. Needless to say, he is currently wary of the nation, but not unwilling to work. Afterall, after the second world war, he was treated as though he had been invaded, rather than willingly joined for some reason.
England would be one of his prefered nations, although they would not be considered friends. He respects the other nation, and has fought enough wars on both opposing and with him to not be overly concerned by this. France would fall under this catagory, although with a lower level of respect due to some of his less respectable activities, and association with Prussia.
He has not previously had much reason to interact with the Asian nations, although he has respect for them. China because of his age, and Japan for his technology. ((I have a feeling more will have to be added here later, considering Japan is the other scientist)).
For Czech... Considering the number of embassies and constulates in each other's countries, I would imagine they get on reaspnably. Although, looking at your page, not so. The history is sketchy at best. Plus, she would be on the list of many countries that used to be part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire... As such, he still regards her as a child, and will scold as he sees fit. In some ways, I suppose it would be a relationship rather like visiting you parents after you move out, as would apply to any country whose majority was Austro-Hungarian (or under Austrian control before then). When you didn't like your parents in the first place, this would certainly be a strained relationship at best.

The next morning found Count Edelstein on his bed. When he awoke, he first dismissed the happenings as a bad dream. Like every other morning for the past years, he began to make his way to the kitchen. He ignored the few maids chattering on the staircase, determined to see his love again.
But, in the kitchen there was no wife. Fel was desperately trying to reach the pan, whilst Lud was searching in the fridge.
"Fel, vhere is Elizabeta?" The count asked the words almost nervously. If it was true... It was not true; could not be true.
Fel and Lud both turned to him, then looked to each other. At the point the girl burst into tears, Roderick's heart fell. It was no dream.
"She didn't deserve him anyway."
"I know! She must have been a witch, enchanting him - she deserved to die..."
"His own fault. Anyway, he's free now for the lovely Baroness-"
The chattering maids were still talking, and had made their way closer to the kitchen. It clicked what they were saying, and he stormed out into the hallway. He saw almost all of the staff standing there, all agreeing with the maids.
"Get out," to begin with the words were only at piano, before they rose in a creshendo to forte. "Get out of my house, and don't dare set foot in here again!"
The staff turned to where he stood, the first sparks of madness in his eyes. Some of the meeker ones fled, whilst others tried to retract their comments. He did not care, though - he wanted them gone. And he made sure of such. He screamed for them to leave, barely hearing his own words.
Once the room was empty but for him, he fell to his knees and sobbed. Elizabeta was gone. Gone with a madman who held a knife to her throat even as she screamed in fear.
He does not know how long it was until the patter of small feet aproached him, only that they did.
"Mister Edelstein?" The voice was meek, scared even, "I made you pasta."
He looked up, tears staining his face and eyes red. Fel was shivering as she held out her bowl of food, but for the first time in her life she stood her ground. Lud was just inside the kitchen, watching ever so quietly.
Not caring for the food, he still stood and approached the child. She shivered as he did, eyes alight and looking for somewhere to run. He knocked the pasta to the floor, and she made to flee. But, he scooped her into his arms, and fell to his knees once more. He pressd her to his chest; she was Elizabeta's favourite. Always his wife's favourite. She could stay - and the boy. But no one else. Children did not judge, afterall.
A while later he stopped crying, and placed her back on her own feet.
"Tha pasta is all cold now!" She sounded like it was a crime, and the Count gave a weak laugh.
Lud stepped forward from his place in the doorway, "you vill find her, sir."
If Fel was truely a child, then Lud was an old man in a child's body. A wise old man in a child's body. Sometimes. At others, he wondered if the boy was even ten.
The count petted Fel's head quietly thinking. Neither child broke the silence, no matter how long it lasted. Fel was looking at the ruined pasta in despair, and Lud at the girl. Roderich, however, stared into the distance. Finally, his eyes narrowed, and he looked down.
"Fel, go see who is left. Lud, I want you to go send a telegram for me."
"To vhom?" The boy asked, as the girl saluted and skittered off.
"A man by the name of Traian Ardeleanu - the telegram office has his details. I need to you send a message summoning him and his counterparts. Be sure to use the correct term."
"Summon Ardeleanu and counterparts to here?"
The Count's eyes narrowed further, "yes." He did not aprove of them or what they did, but if anyone could find Elizabeta, it was them.
"It will be done." The male-child left, just as Fel reappeared.
"We are the only ones left, sir," she shuffled her feet as she spoke.
"You vill be taking all cooking duties, along vith some cleaning, zhen," the Count turned from her. "Get to work." He knew that the children were the only ones left in his house - the old bulter, his confidant, had left - stating that he agreed with the maids, but not their methods, and so left after them. He had never been angier in his life than when he heard those words.

ABOUT THE ROLEPLAYER
About yourself: Er... Hi! I have a real name being Bethany, but you're welcome to call me Loopsy if you really want - most people do. I'm a bit ditzy from time to time, and have the social skills of a blue pineapple (hence, Loopsy), and the emotional understanding of a rock, but do actually feel thing - I don't understand my feelings, and I understnad other people's even less. Please be patient if out of character with me - I will get there, you just have to be blunt about it. Apologies if I'm a bit blunt with you.
Other than role playing Hetalia (why else would I be here), I have a huge interest in advance particle physics - specifically of neutrinos. But, that means I have a pretty wide knowledge of the entire subject - feel free to ask me if you want. Of course, this means that I am sometimes really busy, and at others I have quite literally nothing to do - studying comes in blocks.
Oh, and I live somewhere in the UK... As I say to others, please pardon my American.
Pairing friendly?: Er... My favourite would be Canada/Britain (or vice-cersa), but the only ones I paticually hate are biologically incestusous - Itacest and NorIce are the biggest two. Conerning this character, I'm open to most things.
Personal note to anyone reading your application: Hello! I'm pleased to meet you. Hopefully we can RP sometime soon, provided this is permissable?
