He woke to bright lights and silence.
It wasn't so much the lights that frightened him; the silence was what brought him fear. He didn't know where he was or what had happened, and he would have appreciated it if someone had been around to tell him. However, upon hearing nothing but the simple silence of the white room around him, his heart began to pound.
He had to get out of here.
Without a second's hesitation, he threw back his covers, prepared to move. The sight he saw underneath, though, forced him to stop.
His legs were bandaged every which way, and the little skin he could see seemed badly scarred, as if someone had carved straight onto him. His breath caught in his throat as he thought, and then the memory rushed back to him.

His goofy smile would not leave even as Czech tackled him to the ground with her arms wrapped tightly around his neck while planting sweet kisses all over his face. Who could blame him? The girl of his dreams agreed to marry him. After years of being terrified of rejection he couldn't help but smile at the irony of how easy it was! Reaching up his arms wrapped tightly around her, pulling her closer and kissing her lips with great passion as he turned her over so that she was beneath him as he placed his arm beneath her head so that it was cushioned as his lips smashed against hers in a fit of heated passion.
His hand reached down and pressed against her chest and kissed at her neck, loving how her nice, cool, pale skin felt against his hot lips. "I love you Julka." He repeated this over and over again with each kiss, running his fingers through her hair feeling so deliriously happy that he just couldn't control himself. Pulling back he looked up when a thought came over him.
"America is going to freak when he hears about this..." He said outloud eyes looking ahead as though thinking of telling him now then looked down at Czech beneath him. "We talked about that if you were to marry me he would be my best man..." He smiled sheepishly looking off to the side. "He was excited at the thought of it and I think that such news will make him feel great, don't you think?" He stood up and helped Czech Republic as well. "Shall we at least go see him real quick...just to maybe check?" He asked looking rather hopeful. He was far too excited to contain it...he wanted to tell everyone that mattered the news. So sue him for being ecstatic about having the most wonderful woman for a fiancee!

She giggled when he kissed her neck, one of her most sensitive spots and blushed as he started telling her that he loved her, enjoying to hear that come from someone who meant every word from the bottom of his heart. Her arms wrapped around him pulling him closer as the two kissed and gave a small squeal in surprise when his hands pressed against her chest yet found it was in delight to which she arched her back to receive more. Czech now found herself disappointed and pouted when he pulled back, gving a whine as she tried to get his attention back onto her wondering what was so important that he was looking off and away from her?
He then mentioned America and a surprised look touched her face even more so when he confessed that he has been planning the wedding before hand! "You know Israel its customary to actually ask the bride before planning the wedding." She said teasingly to which she reached up and kissed his neck before rested her head down on his arm once more. She doubted America would be up, probably still be asleep the poor dear, but found herself picked up along with Israel only to meet with an adorably hopeful look on his face. Really how could she resist? Rolling her eyes she grabbed his hand in hers knowing that he was excited as she was to let everyone know about their engagement.
"Alright Israel lets go check...but don't get your hope up!"
They walked out and headed off towards America's room smiling as she hugged onto Israel's arm pausing when they had reached the room she found herself colored shocked when her eyes saw that America was in fact awake. A smile touched her as an overly giddy smile at this surprise. "America!" She cried still smiling unable to stop and found her happiness and surprise blcking her from the distressed look in his eyes. "You're--you're awake!"

He was still struggling to regain all of his memories when two other people entered the room. Briefly, his heart stopped, but then one of the people mentioned his name, and he was able to relax just slightly. He knew who both of these were. "Cz-Czech," he whispered, voice hoarse and coming out in a stammer. As he spoke, though, the alarm began to rise in his tone. "Whe-Where are they? Czech, where are the-they?"
And then he started to panic.
"Oh, g-god, they're after me, they're coming back, they're coming back to get me-" He struggled with the wires that were plugged up, and, in his hazed state of mind, realized that one of the wires was connected to a bag of blood. It was the blood that made him lose it, made him scream out in pure horror.
He quickly turned over, falling to the floor with a shocked gasp, and curled up on himself, tears rolling down his cheeks. "They're getting me!" he screeched.

Her smile had dissapeared very slowly melting into a confused frown. Her eyes narrowed onto him as she tried to make out what he was saying and could at once sense his distress and panic as he tried to get a grip on what was going on. Walking towards him very, very slowly she gestured Israel to follow just as slow as she came to him, listening to what he said very carefully only to gaze up into his eyes with even more confusion.
"They? What do you mean by they?" Ignoring it, she came closer and closer showing her hands, not wanting to make him even more scared with any sudden movements while trying to calm him down. "Now America you need to just lay down and relax, your at the home base no one is going to..." Her words were cut short when he suddenly started to scream in terror and her words chocked in her throat and came to a halt. She watched him fall on the floor and her eyes followed in wide eyed shock.
Czech ignored his screaming, knowing that she had to get him to calm down, get some drugs into his systems to make him still or else this would turn into a disaster. "Israel!" She called over her shoulder as she fell to her knees. "Get some sedative, he's going into shock!" Turning back to her friend she very slowly touched him taking his face in her hands as she tried to talk with him, to reason with him in his time of shock and terror.
"Now America don't...don't struggle...just lay still everything is going to be fine...just...just don't panic, you're safe." She said to reassured him but wondered if it was going to work. There best bet was getting the sedative in him to calm him down and put him back to sleep so to not risk anymore damage to him.

Israel was just as excited as Czech was to see America awake. He was so overjoyed to see his best friend was moving around, eyes open and above all alive. His smile became wide and found himself silenced by the shock. In all honesty he had hoped more than anything that they would find America awake when the came by to check...so much so to keep him from being too dissapointed he told himself that he was more than likely not. So to see him now made him all the more surprised! He was about to take a step forward, to hug him and tell him how relieved he was to see him awake but was stopped when Czech blocked him. Looking at his friend a second time he too saw the stress, the fear and the confusion. He had seen all too many times to count when his soldiers would wake up after facing a bomb or had been tortured in a prisoner of war camp. Though those men could not hold a candle to the ordeal that America had to endure.
Czech was now approaching him slowly and he followed along just as slow and careful listening as she was talking to him, trying to calm him with her words though it did not seem to be working. He suddenly began screaming and fell over to which Israel froze to stare with shock. It wasn't until Czech yelled at him to get some sedative did he finally regain his focus and did as she said. He went to cabinet and took out the bottle containing the medicine that was needed, then searched for a sirenge. Once finding it he opened the bottle carefully extracted the correct dosage and slowly made his way over to the two to which he reached down aiming to place the needle into America's arm as quickly as possible.

He took deep breaths as Czech began to talk to him, trying to focus on her words. She could protect him. She could stop everything trying to get him. He just had to trust her. His head nodded along with the words that she said, grasping a hold of her shirt as he cried. When he could take the fear no longer, he buried his head into her chest, sobbing deeply.
"I-I'm scared!" he blurted out. "I wanna go home. Let me go home, please!" There were no zombies at home. There was nothing that could ever harm him again. At home, he would be perfectly safe. Here, however, there were still threats, still things that lurked around and waited for him.
When Israel came over with a needle, America tried to move away, curling even farther into Czech. "N-No!" he choked out, shaking his head. Maybe this thing would try to take his blood away, too, or maybe it would bring along more pain. He couldn't deal with that, not right then.

He seemed to be listening, that was an excellent start to getting him to calm down. He looked so frightened, so scared like a little child without the protection of his mother that he so desperately wanted. A look she knew far too well. It pained her to see him in such a fragile state, seeing him crying as he grabbed onto her blouse as though it were a security blanket. It was when he suddenly buried his face in her chest did her eyes widened in surprise. Slowly and hesitantly she wrapped her arms around him as well shushing him quietly whilst her hands rubbed at his back to sooth him.
"Its alright America...its alright." She whispered as her lips planted a kiss on his head when he blurted about being scared which only coaxed tears to which she would not allow to leave her eyes. She had to be strong, she couldn't cry now when her friend needed her to be the strong one here!
He wanted to go home. That was something that made her heart ache terribly in pain for her friend. She could relate very well for she wanted to be in the comfort of her home, she wanted things to be back the way they were, a time when everybody wasn't in constant fear and were in a state of peace. She wanted that so badly that is hurt to think that it might not ever be back the way that it was before.
When Israel came with the needle she was relieved to know that America would be able to sleep soon and be able to relax. It seemed that was not going to be the case for when he backed away in fear she raised a hand to stop Israel and turned to America. "America, Israel is just going to give you a shot...you have to stay still so he can put it in you...it will help you sleep, I promise." When he seemed to be calm she gestured for Israel to do it now and do it quickly.

Israel had came to a pause when he heard America's crying. His pause well deserved and justified as he stared at his friend. Here was a great and proud nation full of more courage than the next, and here he was, crying like a baby, hugging onto Czech while sobbing into her chest, trembling like a child. To see such a proud nation fall to such a state was enough to make anyone stop to wonder; Would that be them? If even one of the strongest nations in the world who constantly referred to himself as a hero was in a such a pathetic and fragile state could anyone's mind's be safe from being broken? Could this environment really allow them to be able to find enough stability to stay somewhat sane?
Such thoughts were interrupted when Czech ordered him to stop which he was already doing and gazed at her as she tried her best to comfort him and to assure America that everything was fine. But was it really fine? Was everything going to be okay? Would it be possible to attempt to fix America in such a broken state of mind and body? His thoughts again were cut short when Czech signaled for him to continue. Nodding he quickly placed it to his arm but before he broke skin he looked closed his eyes and reopened them to wake himself up.
"Don't worry my friend...it will be over soon." He said unable to look him in the eye for fear of losing it and being unable to administer the sedative.

But it wasn't okay. A pain was settling in on his legs, and as he sat there, struggling to control his breathing, he realized exactly what the pain was from. Perhaps the shot would help him feel better, but for some reason, America doubted it. In his mind, the shot was something to render him faint, to kill him off. He was dying, wasn't he? He was supposed to have died. The zombies bit him, and what if he was turning into one of them?
This needle would just make him go to sleep until he finally turned.
"Get away!" he yelled, lashing out at Israel and managing to knock the syringe away. "Stay away! I'm not o-one of them! Don't make me turn!" He was safe now, he was safe now, and he couldn't go forward. He couldn't be a zombie. Even if they wanted him to, he wasn't going to become a zombie.
"Please!" he screamed, pulling himself closer to Czech. "I don't want to! I-I'm still a-!" He was choking, though, struggling to get air in his lungs, and his mind froze in complete panic.

Egypt woke up to screaming. That wasn't good. With a resounding thud, he feel out of the chair he had been resting in; Kheffiyah falling off in the process. Gupta had fallen asleep while recording the Medicine and herbs the Medic's Ward had in stock. His clip board had a small blotch of drool to prove it. He strained to pull himself off the floor, his legs having grown numb while he slept. Finally managing to get himself up, Egypt staggered to the door and peaked out of the small window with bleary eyes; just in time to see America screaming and falling out of the bed, ripping out the I.V's as he went. Egypt quickly composed himself as best he could and pushed the door open. His already soft voice cracked as he spook with clipped English*.
"Is all well? or should get more tranquilizers out of storage, /Na'am?/ Yes?"
(HEAD CANON: When tired, Egypt will make progressively less since and will soon begin to completely speak in Arabic.).

The syringe was knocked out of his hand so fast that one minute it was there and the next it was gone. His eyes stared at his hands as though a magic trick had been performed to which the syringe had just magically disappeared when in all reality it had been flung mercilessly into the wall. His confused, dumbfounded gaze turned to their friend who was now literally choking on his words as they speak and found his blank stare be replaced with a bit of urgency.
"Shit." He curse as he took off his shirt in a quick movement and folded it up and placed it on the floor as a makeshift pillow. Gently he took America why the shoulders and pryed his hands from Czech's blouse (lord knows how he managed to do so) but laid him down on to the folded shirt as he pressed a hand to America's chest. He could feel the heart trying to beat, finding it pressing so hard against the ribcage that he could almost see it as America gasped for air.
"He's having a panic attack." He announced to Czech as he kept the hand on America's heart and felt that the skin was burning, signs of a fever. Before he could speak he looked up to Gupta who was looking less than awake at this moment of time but knew that he could still be useful. "Gupta my friend, go fetch towel soaked with cold water and hurry!" He ordered before turning his full attention to America.
"America listen to me, you have to breathe. I know you're scared but you need to take deep breaths in and out like I am. Watch me." He began to mimic what he wanted of America but saw that he wasn't focused on anything but the panic to which he gave him a firm smack on the cheek to wake him up.
"Listen America breathe with me!" He ordered. He was a rather forceful doctor but was always desperate to get the results he needed from a patient especially if that patient was one of his best friends.

He was becoming more and more overwhelmed as they spoke. People were entering the room and telling him what to do, and he wasn't exactly sure whose orders to follow at the moment. His hands were pried off of Czech's clothes, and he was lowered to the ground. Still, he stared up, struggling to find his breath. Fear was gripping him, causing him to choke, to suffocate, and he didn't know if he could take it anymore.
However, before he got the chance to try and make himself pass out, just as he was beginning to see stars, he felt a sharp pain in his cheek, and he jerked to look at the person above him. Israel. His old friend being there comforted him, and he tried to clear his mind, tried to watch him, and then tried to mimic him.
Unfortunately, his breathing was too heavy, too deep, too laced with sickness, and he hoarsely coughed out, "I-I'm sorry! I'm tr-trying, I'm trying, I'm trying, don't let me go-" before dissolving into a fit of tears once more.

Czech's eyes widened and was reluctant to let America go when Israel pulled him away from her embrace. She looked down at him, feeling useless, and terrified, not sure of what to do but just sit there. She wanted to hold him in her arms like before, to shush him and calm him down herself but it seemed that Israel had his medical instincts which trumped her maternal instincts. Sighing heavily she watch Israel work, reaching down occasionally to push America's hair from his eyes and murmur comforting words in her language. When he smacked America her eyes turned onto Israel looking angry as though she might of been tempted to do the same to him, but thought better of it knowing that he was only trying to help their friend in any way that he could.
When America began crying thats when Czech Republic could take it no longer and pushed Israel aside. Something like this required a woman's touch, not a male's demanding voice and harsh actions. Paying no mind to Israel her arms reached down and took him in once more, pressing his head gently into her chest. She shushed him quietly, patting, rubbing his back. What he needed was a calming environment, he didn't need someone yelling at him for god's sake!
"Shhh, its alright America...its alright, no one is going to make you go anywhere...I won't let them." A fierce protective instinct hit her now as she said this, something that came naturally when looking after young, vulnerable nations such as the one in her arms that she was comforting. Her eyes gazed at Israel and instantly felt regret for pushing him aside. Her look served as an apology then gestured her eyes to the syringe that was near him then gestuered her eyes down on America knowing he'd get the message.
"Everything will be fine America...I promise."

He started crying and Israel froze. Yes he had seen men that he had treated with their defenses down, cry and sob about their families, and how they wanted to live and make up for things they had done wrong. In such situations he had faced, he had becalmed accustomed and adapted. When it was however, your big brother like figure who was beneath you, cry and sobbing like a child it only made everything more confusing and hazy. What was he to do? What was the right course of action? All of his years of experience had gone out the door and was now left with complete confusion.
Czech Republic seemed to have known more than he did for she had pushed aside so hard that his back ended up hitting the wall as he stared dumfounded but found it relaxed at the scene before him. Czech knew exactly what she was doing; she placed America back into her arms, comforting him, rubbing him on the back and giving him the right kind of attention all the while keeping her angelic smile. He admired that about her...even in such a stressful situation she knew how to keep her head on her shoulders.
Pausing when his eyes met with her's he saw she was looking straight at him and was gesturing to something beside him. Looking down he saw the syringe and it didn't take a genius to know what she wanted. Grabbing it he slowly approached America hand reaching out and touching his friends arm before pressing it to his skin once more, steading his hand so that there would be no slip ups.
