"I think everyone's really worried. I mean, we all have to sacrifice a lot, and then, after this is over, we all gotta clean up our countries and everything. Plus, the future is unpredictable right now. What if there is no end..." He sighed, shaking his head and trying not to focus on those worries. He had to keep a smile on his face as he normally did. He couldn't let anyone see that America, the guy with the brightest smile in the world, was feeling a bit down.
America rolled his eyes, looking away from Canada. "Dude...nuh-uh. You got loads of courage. You could have done it by yourself, even if I never did. Plus, you're actually...nice. England gave you your freedom without you going along and breaking his heart. I mean, people like you. They respect you. You don't go to World Meetings and hear, 'oh, look, it's him.' Geez, just shut up and take my compliment, alright? I don't give them out often."

"There has to be an end, zombies aren't immortal they have to die eventually." It would be scary if they actually did live forever, but Canada remembered reading somewhere that they didn't live for too long. They are dead, so eventually they tear their bodies to shreads trying to get flesh. He tried to shake the mental image of zombies falling apart, but somehow it didn't work.
"Fine, I'll take your compliment. I'm tired of argueing with you." Canada paused for a second before continueing "You are nice though, you always try to help out the other nations whenever you can. I'm sure other nations like you, I like you, England likes you. Just because you broke away from him doesn't mean he doesn't love you any less."

"But what if it takes forever?" America asked, his voice turning whiny. "I don't wanna be killing zombies for the next hundred years. I wanna get this over with and go home." Home where he could live peacefully and wave American flags everywhere and eat all the hamburgers he wanted and shoot off fireworks every night. He groaned, running his hands down his face. He didn't know how many more zombies he could continue killing before he lost all signs of his cheerfulness. Already he was gloomy. Already he was losing his trademark smile.
Moving his hands away, America bit his lip. "Yeah, but...they hate me." Now he was really getting whiny, but he was unable to bring himself to sound more mature. Just for once he wanted to complain. He had a willing ear, and he was ready to bring out the problems within him, the ones he hardly ever told anyone. "You and England are...you guys are special cases, you two don't count. The others, though..." He swallowed, trying to find the right words. "I...I do wanna help them. And I always try to help them. But, have you noticed, I get hated for doing that? Later on, they tell me I'm being too controlling or I'm getting way too involved with their affairs. And then, if I don't help, they come blaming me for all their problems and...and they hate me, no matter what I do." He gave a short, humorless chuckle. "Don't become a superpower, Canada. You never win."

"It won't take a hundred years, we'll be back home soon enough." Sure, it would take a few more years, maybe even more than a few, but they would be home. Where all of their cities would need repair, and everything would need to be sterilized in order for them to be truely free of the diesease. Where all of their citizens would look over their shoulder in fear every few minutes if they didn't believe that the zombies were gone. At least they would be closer to the way things should have been.
Canada shook his head and said "They don't hate you, no one hates you. They just, I mean, well, you do get into a lot of affairs. You should try letting them deal with their own problems for once." The only reason the other countries wouldn't like him was because he always got into other peoples wars and political affairs. It would do him some good to stop being the world's hero for a little while.

"It'd better be sooner than soon," America grumbled, longing for the return home. Of course, he couldn't deny the fact that this entire experience was forcing him to become closer with other nations. How long had it been since he had actually spoken to Canada? It seemed as if they never had a conversation like this before now. He made a mental note in his head to start doing this more often.
He chuckled, now allowing himself to smile some more. "I would just say 'screw it' and become isolationist again, but I was too lonely during that time. Besides..." He winked over at Canada. "Heroes have to suffer some hatred in their life, yeah? I can't think of one famous superhero that wasn't hated by some." He shrugged. "We just gotta stay strong and continue doing what we know to be right, even if everyone around us is all, "No, you're such a dickwad!"." His spirits were lifted just because of that awesome speech (well, he thought it was awesome), and he clapped his hands together, trying to stay warm. "Besides, like you said, you like me and England likes me and France probably doesn't hate me, and Japan's an awesome buddy, and Lithuania still hangs out with me..." He hummed happily. "I've got loads off friends that all love me and would do anything for me."

Canada let out a little laugh and said "You're so impatient, try relaxing a little." He missed his home as well, even if he was already there. He missed how things used to be, before the zombies had attacked. When all the people were still here, and he could walk outside without having to carry around a gun.
"France likes you, I'm sure of it." There was no reason for France to dislike America. Even if England and France had fought over America when he was younger and France had lost, it didn't mean that France held a grudge against him at all.
"I'm sure you will make even more friends in the future." America always seemed to brighten up the room whenever he walked in. He was a very likable person, something that Canada had always been jealous of.

"I do relax," America countered, crossing his arms over his chest. "And I'm so totally patient. Sometimes. Just not now. C'mon, even you have to admit that you just want everything to suddenly end and go back to normal. Why would you want to be patient and wait this whole thing out?" Of course, all he could do was wish. Nothing would suddenly go back to normal. They had to continue fighting, and continue waiting.
With a grin, America continued. "France had better like me. I've saved his ass too many times to count." He didn't mind, though. He considered himself to be on good terms with France, friends at the very least, and what were friends for? "And I like making friends. So..." He smirked. "The more friends I have, the better."
Making friends was easy for him. He just assumed it was easy for everyone, but...what about Canada? He hoped his little brother had some close friends. "Um...what about you? Got any nations that you just love hanging out with, or am I the lucky one?"

"Well, if I had a choice then I wouldn't wait, but we don't have a choice." The greatest gift in the world would be for this to end quickly. However, they didn't have the luxury of wishing, nor did they have time to. They had to keep fighting in order to save the world. It was an overwhelming thought, but none the less true.
Hesitating for a moment, Canada replied "No, It's mostly just you." He looked at his brother and continued "But I'm making new friends. Some of the countries here I haven't met yet." That was mostly true, he hadn't met many of the countries here and he didn't have many friends. Although, he had conveniently forgot to mention Norway, they weren't really friends anyway, they were more than friends. He didn't want to tell his brother about there relationship, at least not yet. He would have to tell America eventually, but not yet.

America's nose scrunched up in distaste. "That's dumb," he mumbled. "I hate not having a choice." In every other war he fought in, he did have a choice of whether or not to fight. He could have just surrendered and faced the enemy's terms, but it was his choice to enter the war or to keep the war going- he didn't ever like giving up. With a start, he realized he needed to apply that attitude he had then to now. He just couldn't give up. He just had to keep fighting, for however long it took, because America never gave up. "But we're gonna win. No matter how long it takes, we're so gonna win."
He glanced over at his brother and smiled. "Make a lot of friends," he said. "Make a ton of them and then you won't ever be lonely. I wanna try being here for you as much as I can, but when duty calls, duty calls. And I hate the fact that you might be, ya know, all by yourself. You can hang out with England or France or..." Well, that was about all the nations he knew for a fact Canada was close to. "Or anyone! Other nations are sure to like you, Mattie. You're an awesome friend to have."

"Of course we will win, we have you here don't we?" With all of these countires around, there was no way they would lose. Canada wouldn't give up, not easily anyway. He wanted to be strong and protect the people he loved. It was more than just his country that was affected, it was every country. He wanted to be able to help all of those countries, in any way that he could.
"I will, I'll make lots of friends. You don't need to worry about me." Canada wouldn't just do it for America, he would make friends because he would love to. He had always wanted to have a lot of friends, and this was a perfect opportunity. Although, he didn't want America to worry about him. America had his own problems to worry about.
"Thanks America, but I don't think I'll find a better friend than you." America could be annoying at times, and a bit overwhelming, but that didn't mean that his brother wasn't a good friend. America always made Canada smile when he needed it most. He was always trying to help others and his smile never failed t brighten up the room. The fact was, Canada didn't want to find another friend like America, but it wasn't fair to his brother if he didn't even try to find another friend.

America laughed. "You're awesome," he said. "At least you recognize how heroic I am!" Of course, he was still aware that this entire 'war' was a joint thing. He couldn't do it alone. There was no nation that could do it alone. They had to set their differences aside and band together to fight for the survival of mankind. It was difficult to do, yes, for some countries didn't want to work with others (America could name a few he wasn't a fan of), but it had to be done.
At Canada's next statements, America glanced over at him in surprise. "S-Seriously?" he stammered, growing a bit flustered at such high praise. He tried being a good friend to other nations, but, more often than not, his egotistical personality got in the way and everything fell apart. To hear Canada say such a thing was so heartwarming. With a soft smile, America grabbed his brother and pulled him into a tight hug. "Right back at ya, bro," he muttered, not wanting to show how emotional such a simple sentence made him become.

"I'm sure the other nation notice your heroic actions, they're just jealous." Or maybe they are annoyed with America's actions and never wanted help in the first place. Canada wouldn't say that outloud though, America was just trying to help in anyway that he could. He didn't want to ruin their brotherly bonding time with an unneeded comment.
Canada was surprised when America gave him a hug. He wasn't used to physical contact, especially when America was so strong. It felt nice though, and it made him feel warmer, so Canada hugged America back. He was glad to hear that America thought he was a good friend. "Thank you" said Canada.

America felt pleased when Canada hugged him right back. He hadn't been this close to his brother in quite some time. Though he was a person who liked hugs, life had been too busy for such things lately. He just wanted to take this moment and hug the life out of Canada and forget about the zombies and laugh and talk and smile.
"'Course they're jealous," he murmured, snorting a little bit. "They're not me after all. I think everyone would be jealous of me for, ya know, beating them in being heroic and strong and handsome and fun." Pulling back from the hug and grinning, he continued, "Plus, none of them have an awesome brother like I do."

Canada was glad when America finally let him go. It wasn't that he didn't like hugging his brother, even if he didn't normally hug people, but America was too strong for his own good. Luckily America hadn't hugged his neck and he hadn't been suffocated. Of course, it wasn't like he could die that easily.
He was surprised by America's compliment, at least he hoped it was a compliment. How could 'awesome' not be a compliment? "You really think I'm an awesome brother?" asked Canada.

[[And, with the whole wedding thread going on, this post is so ironic. XD]]
"Only the best!" America exclaimed, glancing out at his surroundings (he still had to keep an eye out for zombies, after all- that was the whole reason he came up here in the first place). "For example, whenever I visit you, you always make me pancakes. That's real nice. England just makes me nasty scones and France does weird things with slimy animals, but your pancakes are, like, heaven. Also, you always comfort me when I'm down and you put up with my complaining and...stuff."
Figuring those reasons were good enough, he shrugged. He wasn't really used to exclaiming how awesome other people were. His close friends were the exception, though. And Canada, being his brother and closest friend, should always be raised up and called awesome. Only he could put up with all of the shenanigans America seemed to get himself into.
